A good example of a small English Oak Coffer dating from the mid 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet with a flat top. It is a simple plain design and has never been over-carved. It is generally clean and tidy inside with its original floor and it has developed a beautiful rich patina over the years.
It is in good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks here and there but nothing detrimental and the hinges are strong. The lock has been removed at some point in its life and there are some minor signs of historic worm in the bottom of the legs which has all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected it structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
