A good quality set of 6 dining chairs dating from the late 18th Century. They are made of mahogany with beautifully carved pierced and interlaced back splats. They stand on square chamfered front legs and sweeping back legs joined by two stretchers. Each chair has a drop-in seat pad which has been recently upholstered and covered in a good quality light green leather type fabric which compliments the chairs.
The chairs have been well used and have developed a lovely rich patina with layers of use and history. They have been well looked after and maintained over the years and as such have some good old repairs, including a few small repairs to the back splats and legs. There are signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks here and there and slight wear to the finish in places but all of the joints are good and the chairs are strong and sturdy. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
The chairs are a good size and are comfortable to sit in. The seats are 18" (46cm) high to the top of the cushion pad, 17" (43cm) deep and 22" (56cm) wide. The chairs are 38" (96.5cm) high.
