A good set of 4 Windsor scrollback dining chairs dating from the mid 19th Century. They have shaped elm seats and gently curving back supports with scrolling tops. They have lovely turned spindles between arched back rails and they stand on turned legs joined by H-stretchers.
The chairs stand approximately 33" (84cm) high. The seats are 14" (36cm) deep, 15" (38cm) wide and 17" (43cm) high.
They are in good condition with a lovely colour and patina. They are strong and sturdy with no major damages. There have been a few old repairs to the scroll tops (see photo) but nothing detrimental. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs and minor old shrinkage splits but nothing untoward. They have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
