A good quality set of 4 East Anglian mahogany side chairs dating from the late 18th Century. They have square backs enclosing four back splats, solid dished seats and they stand on square tapering legs joined by stretchers.
The chairs stand approximately 33 1/2" (85cm) high. The seats are 19" (48cm) wide, 16 1/4" (41cm) high and 15" (38cm) deep.
They are in good original condition with a lovely rich colour and they are all strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There is an old split on one seat which has been well repaired at some point in its life and doesn't concern us. The chairs have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
