A good quality set of 4 chairs dating from the early 20th Century. They are a simple design with nicely figured elm seats and spindle backs and they stand on turned legs joined by double stretchers. They are very robust and good quality and likely originated from a school. There are various splatters of old paint present which have given them a lovely patina.
The chairs have small proportions and stand approximately 30 3/4" (78cm) high. The seats are 13 3/4" (34cm) deep and wide and 17" (43cm) high.
They are in good condition with a nice colour and are strong and sturdy with no major damages. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs and a couple of old shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental. They have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
