Product Details

A good set of 4 stickback dining chairs with shaped elm seats. They stand on plain turned legs joined by H-stretchers. One is slightly earlier than the other three but they go well together as a matching set.

They were originally made for the Air Ministry and were likely to have been used in the Officer's Mess. The reverse of the chairs are each stamped with the military crow's foot and 3 chairs are stamped 'Gordon & Co Birmingham 57' and the other is stamped 'G.A.Large Maker 1916'

The chairs stand approximately 35" (89cm) high. The seats are 18" (46cm) deep, 15" (38cm) wide and 17 13/4" (45cm) high.

They are in good condition with a nice colour and are strong and sturdy with no major damages. There are some minor signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There are a few signs of historic woodworm in the legs which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the chairs structurally or aesthetically. They have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
