A good set of 4 18th Century provincial joined oak chairs with yoke shaped top rails above solid shaped splats. They have boarded seats and stand on square tapering legs joined by H stretchers.
The chairs stand approximately 36" (91cm) high and are 14 1/2" (37cm) deep. The seats are 18" (46cm) wide and 17" (43cm) high.
They are in good original condition with a nice rich colour. They are all strong and sturdy but are showing signs of age and have picked up various old repairs over the last 200 + years. There are some marks and light knocks on the seats and around the legs and some minor old shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental. There are some signs of old worm in the bottom of the legs on one chair which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically. They have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.
