A superb regency rosewood pole screen in the manner of Gillows. It has a floral needlepoint embroidered panel in a rosewood frame with scrolling corner motifs. It is supported on a reeded brass arm with a turned finial and lovely engraved detail on the mount. It has a rosewood base with a reeded tapering column and three legs mounted with large carved acorns and it stands on beautifully carved bun feet. The screen itself can be adjusted in height using the brass screw at the rear.
It is in excellent condition for its age. The rosewood has a lovely rich colour and it is generally strong and sturdy. There are some minor signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks but nothing untoward or detrimental. There are some small marks and areas of wear on the needlepoint but the colours have remained bright and vibrant and overall it displays very nicely.
