Product Details

A fine example of an early 19th Century Tea Caddy. It is an attractive sarcophagus bombe shape with beautifully curved sides. It is made from rosewood with boxwood stringing along the edges and an inlaid diamond shape escutcheon. It has brass lion's paw feet and its original brass lion's head carrying handles on the sides.

Inside it has two tea compartments with sliding lids. It also comes complete with a cut glass mixing bowl. The inside of the lid is lined with lovely old green velvet with a tooled edge and it comes with its original working key.

It is in very good condition for its age. The inside is clean and tidy and the exterior has a rich patina and lovely colour. The glass bowl is undamaged with a nice ring to it. There are some minor signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
