A good example of a regency mahogany sofa table dating from the early 19th Century. It has two drop leaves supported by small hinged wooden flaps. It stands on square end supports with sweeping legs and brass cap castors, joined by a turned stretcher. There are two drawers on each side of the table with brass ring handles, one real and one dummy. The drawers have boxwood strung borders and the legs have the same inlaid decoration.
It is in good condition for its age and has a lovely rich colour. There are some signs of age and use, some light marks and knocks but no major damages. The drawers have their original blue penny paper linings which are worn and marked in places but the drawers still open smoothly. There are some signs of historic worm in the drawers and leaf supports which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the table structurally or aesthetically. The table has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
