A superb Georgian mahogany tilt-top table of a large country house scale. The rectangular top is made from a a single piece of mahogany with a moulded edge. It stands on a bulbous ring turned support with alternate ebonised sections highlighting the quality of the turning. It has three elegant splayed legs with incised line detail, matching the moulded edge of the top. The legs have small concealed brass castors below the feet.
The quality is absolutely superb and it has almost certainly been made by a top maker.
It is in good condition for its age. It has a lovely rich colour and is strong and sturdy with a good level top. The tilting mechanism is smooth with a strong catch. There are some minor signs of age, a few small surface marks and light scratches but nothing detrimental and there are no major damages. It has been gently polished and is ready for use.
