A beautiful mahogany bow fronted chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. They are excellent quality and very well made with a lovely patina. The oak lined drawers have brass plate handles which, although aren't original, suit the piece well. There is a pretty inlaid strung border above the drawers and the chest stands on bracket feet.
It is in good condition for its age and has been re-polished to bring out the lovely colour and grain of the wood. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are typical signs of wear, some minor marks and knocks, some light scratches on one side and some repairs to chips around the drawers and on the bottom apron but nothing detrimental and it displays well. There are a couple of old worm holes in the drawer lining which have all been treated as a precaution. The chest has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
