A superb adjustable reading table dating from the early 19th Century. The table stands on a turned column with a splayed tripod base. The height is adjustable and the central pole can be extended by using the wooden knob at the side to loosen / tighten it. The top of the table can be kept flat or tilted to the desired angle using the release catch on the underneath. It can then be fastened in place using the small brass knob. It comes with a removable mahogany stand that slots into the bottom of the table that allows for music or books to be rested at an angle.
It is an excellent quality piece with a moulded edge around the table top and beautiful redded detail on the legs. It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. All the parts move well and the mahogany has a wonderful rich patina. There are some minor signs of age and use, some surface marks and small knocks around the base but nothing detrimental.
