Product Details

A superb 18th Century kneehole desk of small proportions. It has a wonderful colour and we believe it is made from a mixture of elm and fruitwoods. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central cupboard, set back into the kneehole. Unusually, the cupboard is moveable and can be slid forwards to the front of the desk. This is the first desk I've ever seen with this feature.

It is an excellent quality piece with beautiful ogee bracket feet, canted corners and the drawers have their original brass plate handles.

It is in good original condition. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of age and use, various small knocks and marks and a few old repairs but nothing detrimental or untoward. There are some signs of historic worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
