A rare example of an electric shock machine dating from the Victorian Era, contained in its original wooden box with two brass probes. The machine itself is mounted to a wooden block which slides out of the box. There is a wooden winding handle which attaches to the front of the instrument and turns a coil inside a large round magnet which induces the current. There is a lever which moves part of the magnet, presumably increasing or decreasing the intensity. At the rear of the machine there are terminals where the metal probes are connected and wooden blocks at the front to stand the probes on when not in use.
