A pair of WW1 era trench art vases made from brass shell cases. They top edges are scalloped and they are nicely decorated with a hand beaten shield on one side and a rose branching around the other side. They have a roughly etched signature "S.G.Gayton" and are fully stamped on the bases with the details of the shells. One is 1917 Dusseldorf and the other is 1918.
They are in very good condition. There are some minor surface marks and knocks and some small dinks but no major damages and they display well. They have been lightly cleaned and polished to retain their patina.
