A good quality pair of 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchairs dating from the late 19th Century. They have comfortable wide and deep elm seats with broad arms, turned spindles and turned legs joined by a double stretcher. They are a pleasant mellow colour with a lovely grain on the seats.
They are approximately 31 1/2" (80cm) high and 26" (66cm) wide across the arms. The seats are approximately 17 3/4" (45cm) high and 19" (48cm) deep.
They are in good condition for their age. They have developed a lovely aged patina and are strong and sturdy chairs. They are not without a few small marks and knocks and signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
