A good quality mahogany partners desk dating from the late 19th Century. There are drawers and cupboards on both sides, allowing for two people to work at the desk simultaneously, however the pedestals can be turned around to give each side only drawers or only cupboards.
Each drawer is constructed with hand cut dovetails and has brass ring pull handles. The middle top drawer has a fitted interior with a lift up compartment. One cupboard has a shelved interior and the other is divided vertically for files. The top of the desk has a good quality red leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk stands on bracket feet and has nice lined decoration flanking the drawers. It does not come with any keys.
The desk is in good condition for its age. It has a lovely rich patina and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor ink stains. The leather writing surface is in good condition with a few old marks and stains but nothing detrimental. There are normal signs of age and use, some surface scratches, splits and old marks and some repairs to veneer chips around the drawers and the sides but nothing untoward. The desk has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
