A good quality mahogany partners desk dating from the mid to late 19th Century.There are drawers and cupboards on both sides, allowing for two people to work at the desk simultaneously, however the pedestals can be turned around to give each side only drawers or only cupboards.
Each drawer is constructed with hand cut dovetails and has turned wooden knobs. The cupboards have shelved interiors and come with a working key. The top of the desk has a good quality green leather writing surface with a tooled edge.
Below the pedestals are concealed castors, allowing the desk to be wheeled.
The desk is in good condition for its age. It has a lovely rich patina and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor ink stains. The leather writing surface is in good condition with a few old marks and stains but nothing detrimental. There are some normal signs of age and use, some surface scratches and old marks and some repairs to veneer chips around the drawers and the base of the pedestals. The desk has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
