A beautiful mahogany chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. Excellent quality and very well made with a lovely patina and attractive gently bowed front with fluted columns flanking the four long drawers. It is set on short turned and has brass plate handles. Although the handles are not original they suit the piece well.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. The oak lined drawers open smoothly, having had their runners recently replaced or repaired, and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are the usual minor signs of age and use, some marks and old stains on the top, some small repairs to chips in the veneer around the drawers and a few light water marks on the drawer fronts but nothing detrimental. The chest has been cleaned and gently waxed and is ready for use.
