A beautiful Victorian mahogany chest of drawers of monumental size, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It has 4 short over 4 long drawers, each with their original turned mahogany knobs. The top drawer is stamped "Howard & Sons. Berners St " and it has the original "Howard & Sons" paper label inside the drawer.
The quality is absolutely superb and they are in excellent original condition. They have been in the same family since new, kept in the very top attic rooms which is also written on the original key label "Large C/D (attic)". The mahogany is a beautiful rich colour and each drawer is clean and tidy and opens smoothly. There are some signs of age and use, some minor knocks and surface marks and a small chip on the bottom plinth but nothing untoward. There are some old repetitive surface scratches on the very top of the chest (see photos) but they don't detract from what is a beautiful piece of furniture. The back is solid and clean.
