A large oak chest of drawers dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. They have two short over four long drawers, each with brass swan neck handles. They have a planked top and the chest stands on bracket feet. They are a nice quality country set and the oak has mellowed to a lovely warm colour.
They are in good condition for their age and are strong and sturdy. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. They have picked up various signs of age and use, some small knocks and a collection of old ring marks on the top (see photo) but nothing detrimental. The escutcheons have been changed at some point and there are some old repaired shrinkage splits in the sides and a few other small repairs but nothing untoward. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
