A particularly large chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. They are excellent quality and very well made with a lovely rich patina. On the underneath of one drawer they are dated "1806" and are priced £7 7 Shillings!
They are made of oak with mahogany cross banding below the top. There are two short above four long graduated drawers, flanked by reeded columns and standing on ogee shaped bracket feet. Each drawer has its original brass swan neck handles and they come with their original working key.
They are in very good condition and are strong and sturdy. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and knocks and there are some age related shrinkage splits in the sides and across the top but nothing untoward or detrimental and they display very well.
