An excellent quality oak torchere stand of large proportions. It is an unusual piece with a gun barrel turned column which is likely to have originated from a ship and could date to the 19th Century or before. It has a large turned base made of beautiful burred wood with three small bun feet and a smaller turned platform on top. It is a very substantial and heavy piece, ideal for displaying a large plant, vase or bust.
It is in good condition for its age and has a lovely warm patina. There are signs of age and use, some surface marks and small old splits here are there but nothing detrimental. There are old plugs and signs of nail holes in the column, a nod to it's previous life. It is strong and stable and is ready for use.
