A good example of a large square glass inkwell. It is good quality and particularly heavy. It has a silver collar and a round silver top with gilt interior. It also comes with its original liner.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, 1902 and the makers Adie Bros Ltd.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are some minor signs of age and use, some faint surface marks, a few light scratches and minor dinks in the top (see photos) and one small chip on the bottom corner of the inkwell itself but nothing detrimental or untoward. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
