A good example of a country oak dresser dating from the late 18th century. The base has three large and two small drawers each with their original turned knobs and bone diamond shaped escutcheons. The base stands on elegant turned legs with a pretty carved scrolling frieze below the drawers. The large open rack has three shelves and two small cupboards.
It is in good condition throughout and is a good sturdy piece of furniture. It has been well maintained and as such has had some repairs over the years. The base of the three largest drawers have been replaced and the tips of the legs have also been replaced. It is not without some signs of age and use but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. There are various old historic woodworm holes that have all been treated as a precaution and are not detrimental. It is a well balanced piece with a wonderful colour and it displays beautifully. It has been given a thorough clean and light wax and is ready for use.
