A superb example of a large elm dresser base dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It stands on simple square tapering legs and has 3 large drawers each with turned wooden knobs. The top is made from a single slab of inch thick elm with the most wonderful colour.
It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy. It is not without some signs of age and use and minor stains and marks on the top but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. The handles have been changed a long time ago and there are small marks either side of the knobs where the old handles used to be. There are some signs of old woodworm which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside and open well. There are some old repairs but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully. It has been given a thorough clean and light wax and polish and is ready for the home.
