A superb Anglo-Indian trunk dating from the 19th Century with strapped edges and its original blacksmith made handles and latch. It is made of an exotic hardwood, possibly teak and is well constructed with dovetail joints and small bracket feet. The lid opens to reveal a small internal candle box and large blacksmith made strap hinges.
It is in very good condition for its age and has a superb colour and grain. It is strong and sturdy with some minor signs of age and use, some small knocks and surface marks here and there but nothing detrimental. There have been some repairs around the hinges (see photos) but they are in good order and the whole piece displays very well.
