A good example of a large African dug-out pestle. It is made from a single piece of wood with decorative incised lines on the outside. It has a lovely rich colour and patina and has clearly seen years of use. The exact age is unknown but it is likely to date from the early 20th century.
It is in good solid order with no major damages and displays well. There are of course signs of age and use and various marks but nothing detrimental.
