Fantastic example of a boxed Hornby M1 passenger set. The set includes a green lithographed engine and matching tender, no.3435 and two 'Marjorie' Pullman coaches. There are 8 pieces of track in total; 4 curved, 2 straight and 2 small curves. There are also 18 connecting plates for the track. The set comes with the original Hornby key and the clockwork mechanism of the locomotive is good and strong.
The whole set is in remarkably good original condition and although playworn, it has clearly been well looked after and carefully re-boxed after each time it has been played with. There are various small losses to the lithographing but nothing major. The wheels are all in good condition and turn well. Each coupling is in good order. The track and connecting plates have some areas of rust but look ok overall.
The set comes in its original fitted box and has retained much of the original cardboard inserts. However there are many tears to these inserts and general scuffs. The lid of the box is split in each corner and has some general marks on it.
