A lovely small mule chest dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is made from stained pine and the hinged lid opens to reveal a large storage area. It has a panelled front with a long drawer and panelled sides with metal carrying handles. It has a flat top and stands on small block feet.
It is in good original condition throughout and is strong and sturdy with a beautiful rich patina. The back is clean and the hinges are strong. There are signs of age and use and signs of historic worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
