A lovely Spode twin handled sugar bowl dating from the early 19th Century. It is part of the popular 'Bat Pattern' set (model No.557). It has gilt borders and is decorated with black and white scenes of animals. This particular jug has rabbits on one side and swans on the other.
It is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and the gilding has remained bright and vibrant. There is a very small chip on the foot (see photo) and the interior is stained and slightly crazed (see photo) but otherwise it displays well.
