A lovely Spode Jug dating from the early 19th Century. It is part of the popular 'Bat Pattern' set (model No.557). It has gilt borders and is decorated with black and white scenes of animals. This particular jug has swans on one side and sheep on the other.
It is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and the gilding has remained bright and vibrant. There are some minor signs of age and use and the interior is stained and slightly crazed (see photo) but otherwise it displays well.
