Product Details

A good quality Georgian oak wall cupboard dating from the early 19th century. The cupboard has two panelled doors with a beautifully cross banded border and raised brass escutcheons. It has an interesting fitted interior with various shelves and pigeon holes and a small drawer. There are also two hidden compartments either side of the drawer which need to be reached for and pulled out using a long handle attached to a piece of string.

It comes with its original working key for the outside doors and internal drawer. There are two metal hanging brackets on the back of the cupboard but it could also be used equally as well sat atop a desk or sideboard.

There is a name "Insp. Morson" painted on the top of the cabinet which might give some clues to who once owned it.

It is in very good original condition with a wonderful rich patina. There are some signs of age and use but no major damages and overall it displays very well. There are a few historic worm holes which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and given a light polish and is ready for use.
