A good example of a large oak dresser base dating from the late 18th / early 19th century. There are three drawers above a planked potboard base. Each drawer has a turned wooden knob and the dresser stands on small block feet with turned supports.
It is a useful narrow size and excellent quality with lots of character. There are some small filled in gaps at the back where a rack would have once sat but it has been done very well and isn't detrimental to the piece now.
It is in good condition throughout. It is not without some signs of age and use and some light marks and old stains on the surface but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. There are some minor old shrinkage splits on the top but the whole piece is strong and sturdy. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly. It has been given a clean and gentle polish and is ready for use.
