A large Georgian oak dresser base dating from the late 18th Century. It has an arrangement of five drawers and two cupboards. Each drawer has pierced brass plate handles with matching escutcheons and the cupboards both come with working keys. It is a stylish and well made piece with attractive crossbanding on the drawers, cupboards and around the top edge, fluted columns on the ends of the base itself and nicely shaped ogee bracket feet.
It is in very good condition for its age and has been extensively and sympathetically restored to ensure it is strong and sturdy, the drawers open smoothly and the cupboard interiors are clean and tidy. There are of course signs of age and use and some minor signs of old woodworm which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the dresser structurally or aesthetically. There are various old marks on the top surface and some minor shrinkage splits but nothing detrimental and this has all helped to create a lovely patina. It has been cleaned and given a gentle wax and polish and is ready for use.
