A superb example of a large oak dresser base dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It stands on simple square legs and has 3 large drawers, each with brass ring handles. It is very much a country piece and is quite crudely constructed but beautiful in its simplicity.
It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy. It is not without some signs of age and use and minor stains and marks on the top but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. The handles are original although they have had some repairs and one backing plate has been replaced. The tips of the legs have been raised where they have worn gradually over the years. There have also been a few old repairs to the top.
There are signs of old woodworm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside and overall it displays beautifully. It has been given a thorough clean and a gentle polish and is ready for use.
