Product Details

A superb example of a Georgian oak dresser dating from the late 18th century. It most likely originates from Wales and is excellent quality. The base contains three drawers above a central arched 'dog kennel' with two cupboard doors either side. Each drawer has brass plate handles and the cupboards have small brass knobs with bone escutcheons. The cupboards are flanked by nicely turned columns and the dresser stands on shaped bracket feet.

The cupboards open to reveal a shelved interior and the dresser has its original plate rack with moulded cornice, three shelves and many of the original hooks. The rack has a fully planked back with wonderful wide original boards.

It is in very good condition throughout and displays beautifully. It is not without signs of age and use and there are some old stains and ink marks on the top surface but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. There are no major damages and the drawers open well and the interior is generally clean and tidy. The handles are not original but suit the piece well and have been on there a good time and some of the feet have also been repaired at some point. The dresser has been given a thorough clean and gentle polish and is ready for use.
