A lovely Georgian candle or taper box dating from the late 18th Century. It is made of oak with mahogany cross banding and has the most wonderful colour and patina. It has a sliding chamfered lid and a raised fretwork gallery on the back.
It is well made and in good condition for its age. There are signs of age and use, a small chip to the side runner of the lid and a few old splits on the back but no major damages. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and displays well.
