Product Details

A lovely country oak bureau dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It has nice small proportions and stands on bracket feet. It has a sloped front above four drawers, each with brass swan neck handles and cross banded borders. Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes and drawers around a central cupboard with inlaid door.

It comes with a working key for both the interior cupboard and the main sloped front.

It is in good condition for its age and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. There are general signs of age and use, some old knocks, small splits and a few small repairs but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The feet have likely been replaced at some point. The interior is in good condition with a few old surface marks and stains but nothing detrimental. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.
