A lovely oak bureau dating from the late 18th Century. It has a sloped front above three drawers, each with brass plate handles and matching escutcheons. Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes, drawers and a small cupboard. The bureau has pine sides and stands on shaped bracket feet.
It is in excellent condition for its age and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. There are general signs of age and use, some old knocks, small splits and a few small repairs but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The interior is in good condition with a few old surface marks and stains but nothing detrimental. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.
