A lovely oak chest of drawers dating from the late 18th Century. They are a good quality country set and each drawer has a brass plate handle with matching escutcheon. The top has a moulded edge and the chest stands on bracket feet.
They are a cottage set, having been made in two parts to get into small spaces. The two halves sit on wooden pegs and are very sturdy as a solid piece but do split to allow for easy movement.
They are in good condition for their age and are strong and sturdy with a solid panelled back. The drawers open smoothly, having recently had the runners replaced, and are generally clean and tidy inside. One bottom handle is slightly different from the rest but it isn't immediately obvious. They have developed a wonderful rich patina over the years and have picked up various small knocks, marks and signs of age and use and a few small repairs but nothing detrimental or untoward. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
