An elegant mahogany washstand dating from the early 1800s. It stands on four turned legs with a middle shelf and lower crossed stretchers joining the legs. There is also a small drawer below the shelf. The flat top lifts off to reveal cut outs for a washbowl below.
It is in good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. The mahogany has faded slightly over the years and there are some water marks on the shelf. There are other minor signs of age and use and the decorative fretwork on the back below the shelf has had the lower parts broken (see photo) but overall it displays well. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
