A fine example of an 18th Century mahogany tea caddy of square form standing on small bracket feet with a brass escutcheon and small brass carrying handle. The caddy is oak lined and has three compartments for tea and a separate division for the spoon. The lid of the box is lined with green baize.
On the base of the Tea Caddy are carved initials reading "OC.12 SR 1750". This could well be the date of manufacture as it would fit with the period of the caddy.
It is in very good condition for its age. The inside is clean and tidy and the exterior has a deep rich patina. There are some small signs of wear and age but no major damages. There are signs of historic woodworm in the base which has all been treated as a precaution. We do not have a key.
