A superb example of a small Serpentine chest of drawers dating from the late 18th century. They have three short drawers over two long drawers, each with their original brass plate handles and they stand on small bracket feet. They are excellent quality with a good rich patina and of course the beautiful serpentine shape.
They are in good condition for their age and are strong and sturdy. They have picked up a few small knocks and marks and there have been a few old repairs here and there but nothing untoward or detrimental. The feet have been repaired but are strong and sturdy (see photos).
The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside although the pine bases have suffered from some old worm at some point which has been treated as a precaution. The chest has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
