A superb Georgian mahogany Linen Press dating from the early 19th Century. It has two cupboard doors with oval panels that open to a shelved interior with the original oak lined linen slides. Below this are two short and two long drawers with brass plate handles. The cornice has nice dentil moulding and the whole piece stands on tall bracket feet.
It is an excellent quality piece with elegant Georgian proportions. The grain of the book matched flame mahogany veneer on the doors and drawers is superb and it has a wonderful patina. There are delicate boxwood strung borders around the drawers, doors and cornice. The drawers and slides are all oak lined and it has a solid panelled back. It also comes with its original working key for the cupboard doors.
It is in excellent condition and has been gently cleaned and polished. The interior is clean and tidy and the drawers open smoothly. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and small knocks but no major damages or anything detrimental. There have been some minor repairs in places and some repairs to the feet but they are strong and sturdy.
