An attractive early 19th Century butler's tray with a folding X-frame base. The mahogany tray has hinged sides with carrying handles that can be raised to carry or laid flat when serving to form a flat oval surface. It is a well made example and the timbers are excellent quality with a nice rich patina.
It is in good original condition and displays well. There are signs of age and use, some wear and light knocks on the legs, some surface marks and some historic shrinkage splits around the panels which have been repaired and the whole piece is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
