A superb Georgian mahogany cheese coaster dating from the late 18th / early 19th century. It is a good size and has room for a large cheese wheel with bread alongside. The mahogany has a wonderful colour and patina and it is a good quality piece with an elegant shape and decorative turned roundels.
It is in good condition for its age and displays beautifully. There are minor signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. There are some minor age related shrinkage splits on the reverse and a small repair but nothing untoward and it is still strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
