A superb Georgian mahogany cheese coaster dating from the late 18th / early 19th century. It is a generous size and has room for a large cheese wheel with bread alongside. The mahogany has a wonderful colour and patina and it is a good quality piece with an elegant shape and decorative turned roundels.
It is in good condition for its age and stands on its original small brass castors. There are minor signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. There is a minor age related shrinkage split but it is still strong and sturdy. The castors move well and overall it displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
