A good quality Georgian carver chair dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is made of mahogany with a beautifully carved and pierced interlacing back splat. It has curved arms with lovely scrolling detail at the end. It stands on square chamfered legs and the chair has a drop-in seat pad which has been covered in a good quality red fabric.
The chair has been well used and has developed a lovely rich patina. It has been well looked after and maintained over the years and as such has some good old repairs but it is strong and sturdy. There are some other minor signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks here and there but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
The chair is a good large size and comfortable to sit in. It stands approximately 37" (94cm) high and is 27" (69cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 20" (51cm) deep and approximately 17" (43cm) high to the top of the cushion pad.
